Fall: Cozy Ideas to Make the Most of Fall This Season
It’s that time of the year again! Personally, it is my favorite.. Something about the crisp morning air, the leaves change colors, cozy recipes, spiced candles, spending time with people you love next to the fire, all make for a beautiful time of the year. Here are some Fall Ideas & Fall Favorites to make the most of this season, at home or away!
1. Decor: Candles, Lights, Blankets
Setting up pumpkins and adding cozy lights can make it feel much more like fall, wherever you are. A fall-scented candle can add to the coziness of your home. Set out your comfy blankets for movie nights. My favorite thing to do (pretty much every season), is to go to Bath & Body Works and find my favorite candles and soaps for the season. (Tip: I repurpose the soap bottles I love and just refill the soaps).
2. Fall Dishes & Recipes:
Warm dishes are great for this time of year— soups, stews, casseroles, baked potatoes, the list goes on! I like trying new recipes and making the ones I love over and over again :).
3. Desserts & Sweet Treats:
Fall and sweet treats seem to go hand in hand. If you love baking, fall is a great season to try new recipes! If you have family recipes, this is a great time of year to whip them out and put a smile on everyones faces. You can experiment with baking or making sweet treats. 4. Colorful Fall Leaves:
If you are at home this fall, do you live in an area where the trees change colors? If so, maybe find a new walking, hiking, or picnic spot where you can take in the fall air and changing leaves. If you don’t, do you have a town nearby where theres more trees? Maybe take a mini-road trip. Whether you have changing leaves where you are or not, this is a beautiful time of the year to take nature in and appreciate what is around you.
5. Fall Hair:
Fall is a great time for a fresh haircut and color. There is so much inspiration in nature this time of the year. You could try some warm tones or cozy colors! Whatever your hair style or preference, there are fun fall colors for everyone. You could go on Pinterest and find some hair inspiration. Pinterest, a cozy blanket, hot coco, candles—sounds like a cozy night to me! Here is a picture of the hairstyle and color I went with for this fall. A warm-toned, dark chocolate brown, a haircut with long curtain bangs, some layers and fringe-framing around my face.
6. Toasty Drinks:
Hot Cocoa, Apple Cider, Chai Tea Lattes, Home-Made Mochas, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and so much more! Make yourself a cozy drink on a Sunday morning (or any morning, I just love Sundays :)). I used to work as a Barista and making home-made drinks feels great. It’s kind of like baking and cooking, putting the love into your drink and picking out all the flavors and toppings in the comfort of your own home. You can even make a cozy drink station with Hot Cocoa mix and Marshmallows for the season. Do what makes your heart smile!
7. Cozy nights:
Movie night at the Delight House, Treats by Marcia!
Have a cozy movie night with family, friends, and yourself. Whatever you’d like! Put some of your favorite dishes out, make those cozy drinks, snuggle up and enjoy. Turn on your decorative lights if you have them, scented candles, and surround yourself with all that is fall. You could include some of those sweet treats or deserts for the movie nights too. I like Twilight, Romantic Comedies, Classics in the Fall!
8. Coffee Shop:
Is there a coffee shop you’ve been wanting to try for a while? Try it! Put on your coziest sweater and fall boots and just spend several hours or the whole day—let the time pass. Read a book. Write in a journal. Write out your dreams. Anything you have been wanting to do, but haven’t given yourself the time to. It’s a nice way to hangout with yourself and check-in with goals, and just relax and be. You could go out for coffee with a friend you haven’t seen in awhile, with someone you’ve been wanting to catch up, a new friend you made while volunteering, etc. Open up and be cozy.
9. Mini-Fall Getaway (or a Full-On Fall Trip):
Being in your hometown for Fall for some may be the perfect way to spend the season. If you want to have mini-getaways during the season, you could try finding fun activities nearby. For example, is there an Octoberfest where you live or a few towns away? Whether you drink or not, many Octoberfests have lots of other actives besides drinking—Music, Culture, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, etc! Just being in the fall ambiance can be fun too. Look up fun fall activities in your area (or away, if you are going to travel). See what you can find! There is also the Pumpkin Patch option which is in Step 10 below.
If you are in search of more of a full-on trip this fall season, check out my blog post on how to plan a dream trip, and apply it to your dream fall vacation. There are so many options out there! Make it the best trip for you and your dreams.
10. Pumpkin Patches:
Pumpkin Patches are a great way to spend the day and make memories with your loved ones. If you have a pup, you might be able to find a pumpkin patch that is dog-friendly! There are pumpkin patches with many fun activities: picking out pumpkins with a little cart, kettle corn, seeing cute animals, sling-shot pumpkins, and more! It’s a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I love going to Pumpkin Patches as a yearly tradition! You can try a new place every year, or go to the one you love each year.
